Spirit of Spring

Spirit of Spring, Alphonse MuchaSpirit of Spring / Musée Carnavalet, Paris

Painted by Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939), member of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Paris. A Litho of this painting is hanging halfway the staircase in the Villa Bethania. It’s a remarkable picture of 3 girls innocently dancing around a tomb alongside a hidious devil, disguised as a spring. The litho was bought at Home Décor in Paris just like some of the wallpaper in the Villa that was also designed by Mucha. How Abbé Saunière acquired the litho is unclear but it is certain that it came from Paris like some of Marie Dénarnaud‘s dresses.
